Novalume joins TALQ Consortium

Novalume joins TALQ Consortium as an Associate Member to support interoperability and open integration of street lighting networks with Lumintell™.

“Since the creation of the Lumintell™ Smart City system in 2015, we have always believed that open system and easy integration to external systems was necessary. With our international projects in different cities’ IT environment, integrating TALQ was a natural step for our current and future smart city lighting projects.“ explains Kim Krahl Larsen, CEO of Novalume.

TALQ is the globally accepted standard for Smart City Lighting networks and provides answers to the main challenges of building really smart cities including increasing safety and comfort for inhabitants, reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions worldwide, raising cost efficiency for operators managing a smart city.

Almost every day a new Smart City project is announced with connected streetlights to save energy, reduce carbon emissions and maintenance costs, while increasing the quality of lighting services in the streets. Most of the available LMS solutions, however, are proprietary, locking cities into single vendor solutions.

Thanks to the TALQ Smart City Protocol and Lumintell™, city managers can now choose and adopt control solutions from multiple hardware and software vendors and control them all through a single Central Management Software.

Thanks to Lumnitell™, cities, ESCOs and OEMs benefit from:

  • Drastic energy savings by up to 30% – In the streets, roads, highways and residential areas: program lamp dimming to the right light level at the right time drastically reduces the energy consumption. When upgrading the streetlights to LED, the total solution results in up to 75% savings.

  • Reduce carbon footprint by up to 30% – In some countries, each kWh is responsible for the emission of up to 900 grams of CO2. Thanks to their light dimming capabilities, Lumintell™ save tons of CO2, contributing to reducing cities’ overall carbon dioxide emissions, and allowing them to reach their targets from the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.

  • Reduced maintenance costs between 30% and 50%No need for expensive night patrols any more. Lamp failures as well as other alarms are automatically identified to act faster and increase security and safety in the street. Furthermore, the Lumintell™ Field App offers a real-time coordination and planning of your field maintenance crews, optimizing communication and efficiency.

  • Increased control and visibility – With Lumintell™, authorized operators can check any situation on any streetlight or group of streetlights from anywhere at any time. Real time control and monitoring features enable them to drastically reduce the number of onsite trips as well.

  • Data-driven decisions with reports, comparative data and energy savings analysis, CO2 emissions reduction and other Smart Data.

  • Build your Smart City as you go – You decide when you are ready to expand your smart city solution with external sensors and IoT applications.

About the TALQ Consortium

Founded in 2012, the TALQ Consortium is establishing a globally accepted standard for management software interfaces to control and monitor heterogeneous smart city applications. The TALQ Smart City Protocol is a specification for information exchange, suitable for implementation in various products and systems. This way interoperability between Central Management Software (CMS) and Outdoor Device Networks (ODN) from different vendors will be enabled, such that a single CMS can control different ODNs in different parts of a city or region.

TALQ is an open industry consortium currently consisting of more than 40 member companies. For more information, please visit https://www.talq-consortium.org/
