Guacarí, El Cerrito and Jamundí, three Colombian municipalities, are ready to improve public lighting and become Smart Cities thanks to 6,500 LED streetlights and Novalume’s unique “pay-as-you-save” financing model. Thanks to the Novalume’s solution, the three municipalities will reduce in average by 60.5% their annual energy consumption their CO2 emissions and their maintenance costs.
More savings, more sustainable
The three municipalities have upgraded their public lighting infrastructure with LED lights which has resulted in a more secure and sustainable environment. An average of a 60.5% of electricity consumption is being saved annually and CO2 emissions are being cut in an average of 469 tons. In addition, the new lighting infrastructure provides an excellent photometric performance which has led to an increase in the citizen’s safety feeling and a higher quality of life.
The complete solution integrated the “pay-as-you-save” financial model by Novalume which enabled them to use part of their generated savings to pay the investment, freeing up capital that could be invested in other projects.
One-stop-shop Approach
The three municipalities also benefited from Novalume’s one-stop-shop approach: one contract and one point of contact. Novalume always works with local partners who service the LED lighting installation. “In many cases, our customers already know our local agent,” says Edwin. “This is an advantage for the municipalities because they’re dealing with a local partner in their own language. This after-sales service, together with our finance plan, is part of our winning formula.”
