Danish Energy power plant burns up to 3.000 tons coal per day in Dec. 2021

Especially on days with low contribution from Wind and Solar power, an excess amount of Coal and Oil is needed to secure the energy supplies in Denmark. According to the Danish Ministry of Climate-, Energy and Supply the average Co2 emission per KWh in Denmark was around 135 g CO2/KWh. But when we are forced to use Coal or Oil, this will increase to around 811/773 g CO2/KWh. (2020).

Due to a slow rollout of dynamic and wireless controlled streetlights in most Danish municipalities, Carbon and energy reduction opportunities of further 30% in the Streetlight infrastructure is missed out. This calls for at clear and understandable climate and technology strategy for our municipalities.

First, we politically need to motivate the municipalities to install green technologies in their infrastructure. By doing so we have to use the 800/773 g CO2 level when we calculate the Co2 reduction obtained by a given technology investment, and not 135 g CO2/KWh. I believe that it is clear to all Danish citizens that the first plant we will take out of the equation is the most polluting one.


The technology is already there, so let us add this to the municipality’s green agenda.
